Here are some of the people who help create your moment…
Al Salomon is the founder and CEO of Marigolds and Onions, a leading catering company based in Toronto. Prior to Marigolds and Onions, Al worked at another catering company. Yearning for the desire to run his own business, Al craved creative control to cater events in his own way. From then he decided to take a chance and establish Marigolds and Onions, which all started in a small garage downtown in 1991. He coined the motto that you are “Only as Good as Your Last Job!”. Since then, Marigolds and Onions has been catering many “Last” jobs for both corporate and social clients in the GTA and across the country. Al credits the company’s success to hard work, great food, and unparalleled commitment to customers, venues, and suppliers.
Wayne Sun is a Chartered Professional Accountant with Bachelor degree in Commerce. Joined Marigolds and Onions in 2009 as an Accounting Manager, Mr. Sun brings with him over 14 years’ experience in accounting, leading Financial team with respect to financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, auditor coordination, tax returns, management of insurance policies, as well as special projects.
In addition, to being an accountant Wayne is champion dim sum chef.
Andrew has over 28 years of experience in Culinary Management, as he is a graduate of George Brown College. After working at multiple locations, such as Hotels, Country Clubs, restaurants, and the catering industry, Andrew joined Marigolds and Onions in 2001 as a Sous Chef, and is now our Executive Chef. He has been with us for over 15 years and is known for his hard work ethic as well as his passion for cooking.
Ashtad Dadachanji was born and raised in Mumbai, India, enjoying the classic cuisines created by his grandmother. His heritage was the inspiration for his desire to cook. A master’s graduate at the prestigious Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners in Piemonte, Italy, he proceeded to work in upscale environments, assuring client delight at luxury super hotels. Passionate about cooking, moving to Canada was a natural fit. Ashtad joined the Marigolds and Onions team in 2010, starting as a Sous Chef. Under the direction of the esteemed Chef Robert Christie, he expanded his knowledge of kitchen operations, as he adapted to working in a high-paced catering environment. With his incredible work ethic and eagerness to learn he was soon promoted as Master Chef in the short span of one year. Known as Chef “Ash” by most, his carefree attitude and flair in cooking doesn’t go unnoticed. In his free time Ash enjoys roller coaster rides and skydiving. He also shares a passion for instruments as he is skilled in percussions.
Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Kari Thal honed her craft in the Hospitality Management Program at George Brown College. Upon graduating, Kari returned to Calgary to accept a role as Events Coordinator at a private golf club, where she planned and executed many corporate and club-related social events and functions. After re-locating back to Toronto, Kari joined our team at M&O in the position of Account Manager. Kari has become our subject matter expert and specialist for planning weddings, corporate and social events.
She brings to our team a tremendous wealth of event experience coupled with her strong organizational skills and her close attention to detail ensuring your event is a complete success.

Dan has been with Marigolds and Onions for 8 years. Started as a driver, and is now our Shipper. Originally from Romania, Dan started with us within a year of arriving, and has been instrumental to our success ever since. Dan has a Law Degree from Spiru Haret University. He also used to play professional soccer in Romania for their Under 21 National Team
